| Obituary: |
On July 21, 2010, C.A. "Salty" Salado peacefully passed away with his loving family by his side. Salty was born October 8, 1927 in Kaneohe, Hawaii, and later moved with his family to Northern California as a boy, eventually settling on a ranch in Corning, CA in 1955. He resided in Chico at the time of his death.
Salty served as a Merchant Marine, where his love of international travel was born. He also worked in the grocery business for more than 50 years and he shared his passion for food with everyone who knew him. His family and friends will remember his love of the outdoors and generous spirit, but above all, he will be remembered for his magnetic, welcoming nature that made everyone feel like family.
He and Pauline, his wife of 60 years, have a wonderful family of 3 sons, Daniel, Ron and Randy (wife Lin), and a daughter, Dianna, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by 12 amazing grandchildren named Amy, Amber, Tony, Shawna, Randi, Steven, Angie, Ryan, Amanda, Shane, Andrea, and Al. He was known as Papa/Poppy Salsa to his 15 beautiful great- grandchildren, who he referred to as his "good crackers".
A family funeral will be held at Chico Cemetery on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cancer Society or Enloe Hospice.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brusie Funeral Home.
