Name: Catherine Garbis Obituary: CATHI GARBIS A graveside service will be held for Catherine Garbis on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Chico Cemetery. She passed away on Wednesday, July 21 2010 at Enloe Hospital. She was born in Far Rockway, NY. Cathi graduated from Hunter College and in 1957 she married Marino Garbis in New York. They moved to Chico where Cathi was an elementary school teacher for 13 years. Cathi enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She enjoyed traveling with Marino and also with her friends. A Viewing will be held on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Marino Garbis of Chico; daughter, Dina Z. Garbis of Los Angeles; two brothers, Eugene Zaphiris and Peter Zaphiris, both of New York. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
